What is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga is a physical and meditative discipline that combines postures (asana), breath (pranayama), body locks (bandhas), hand positions (mudra), eye-focus (drishti) and the use of sound current (mantra).

Kundalini refers to the energy of the body. When that energy is circulated in a specific way, it provides the practitioner with a real experience of their true nature which is that of total physical health and well being, of peace and bliss, of energy and vitality, of love and connectedness and of heightened awareness, intuition and consciousness. This is why Kundalini has been called "the Yoga of Awareness." Not only is physical strength and flexibility gained but through the combination of the above tools, Kundalini balances the glandular system, strengthens the nervous system, expands lung capacity and purifies the blood bringing balance to the body, mind and soul.

A 75 minute Intro to Kundalini class will be offered spring of 2018 every other Saturday at 4:30pm. Teacher Shelli Welch weaves in powerful self knowledge and inspiration in every class. This powerful practice will leave you feeling integrated, calm, clear and utterly energized. Kundalini involves chant, meditation, powerful breathe work, and deep yogic movement.
