Ayurveda and Pranayama Across the Seasons

We had our first introction to Ayurveda in May, and the sweet owners of the downtown Treat Bar let us close the place over delicious pots of tri-doshic balancing tea. The second Ayurveda, Yoga + Tea is set for Tuesday evening, June 9. You do not have to have been present at the first class in May, but it might help to have already determined your Prakruti (personal mind-body, or Dosha, type). Here's a helpful quiz published on the Chopra Center website.

Ayurveda is a sister science to Yoga. Readmore about it here.

Pranayama (breath work) for the Doshas is featured in this informative article. How and when can we pacify Pitta, Vata, and Kapha during the different seasons? Well, for Summer, Sheetali, or cooling breath, uses the natural air-conditioner of our moist mouth to turn down the temp of air entering the body. Below is a video example.
