Larisa Scott has 20 years of experience teaching group fitness and personal training. Larisa was introduced to the Ashtanga Yoga Method during her 200 hour teacher training program. “I began trying to learn the practice the following Monday as an experiment,” she admits, “and it’s been my daily practice ever since.”
Larisa received her 200RYT Neighborhood Yoga in Boone in Boone, NC.
Her personal practice is Ashtanga Primary and Second Series under the guidance of Daylene Christensen, and she practices regularly with Mysore Hickory. “I embrace every opportunity I can to travel and study or practice with each of my teachers.”
Although a vigorous physical practice, Larisa describes the Ashtanga practice as focusing primarily on the breath and dristi (point of focus). These teach the student to remain steady and calm when things are challenging. “The physical practice is simply a metaphor for what I’d like to cultivate in my life,” Larisa says. “The more consistently I practice, the more I’m able to move through life with a steady sense of ease.”
Larisa is a married mother of 3, a speech therapist, and a full time mom. She strives to brings what has inspired her into her own teaching.
