Rhonda Cook

Rhonda is the original founder of Breathe Yoga and Wellnesss and owned this beautiful studio until August 2018 when she decided to move back home to Texas to be closer to family.  She is a Certified Yoga Therapist c-IAYT by the International Assn of Yoga Therapists. Rhonda believes in a cost-effective, person-centered research based approach to healing through yoga and meditation.

She will be terribly missed by the community she built, but promises to return from time to time to teach classes for us.  We wish Rhonda the very best!

A grad of Subtle Yoga’s 200-RYT, Jo aims to share the beauty of a prana-based practice for mind, body and spirit with folks of all ages, and has a strong desire to develop ideas that will reach younger generations.

Erica Baxter

Erica is a personal trainer and yoga instructor who has a true passion for healthy living and follows a holistic approach when working with her clients. While gaining strength, flexibility, and losing weight are great benefits of the proper lifestyle, it is the balance those things bring to an individual’s life that motivates Erica the most.

Christi Bristol

Christi received her 200-RYT certification in April of 2016 and is pursuing e-RYT designation. Her classes are theme based to focus on particular regions of the body or chakras.

Martha Bumgarner

Martha, Breathe's Pilates teacher, is employed full time at the Morganton Aquatic Center as swimming is her other passion.

Marie Carey

Marie discovered yoga after becoming a mental health counselor.  She is passionate about helping others, and believes the mind, body, and spirit work together to promote overall health and wellness.  Marie and her husband, Ben, moved to Morganton in 2015. 

Peggy Carter

Peggy Carter’s yoga journey began 12 years ago as she sought physical, mental, and spiritual enrichment in her life. Her study in the traditional Iyengar style of yoga led to two years of yoga teacher training under Lori Weimer RYS, resulting in a 250-hour certification in 2010.

Emily Elder

Emily has been practicing yoga since 1991 and teaching since 2009. She teaches a mixed-levels flow style, where, in addition to a physical workout, students can expect an uplifting theme and careful cueing.

Kelly’s beginner-friendly classes blend asana (poses), pranayama (breath work) and meditation to help her students deepen their practice.

Annaliese is a groundbreaking life coach, Kripalu Yoga instructor, and spirited meditation teacher dedicated to helping women and men wake up to their lives. She distills teachings and shares practical tools and technologies so her clients can be transformed in the way they are destined to.

April Nelson

April Nelson began her career in fitness after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion and Exercise Science in 1996 – the same year she first tried Pilates, yoga, rock climbing and mountain biking.  After a decade of immersion in the fitness field, she shifted focus through a Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration, concentrating on Outdoor Pursuits and Experiential Learning.  In addition to teaching at Breathe, April works full-time at Caldwell Community College where she leads the Physical Education department and teaches yoga, backpacking, and a variety of health and wellness classes.

Karin Novak

Karin Novak, Registered Yoga Teacher, has lived in the NC foothills since 1993. After moving here from Iowa, she met her now husband, Bob. They live in Morganton with their dog, Ozzie, and two cats, Nigel and Shanti Om.

Larisa Scott

Larisa Scott has 18 years of experience teaching group fitness and personal training. Larisa was introduced to the Ashtanga Yoga Method during her 200 hour teacher training program. “I began trying to learn the practice the following Monday as an experiment,” she admits, “and it’s been my daily practice ever since.”

Kelly Treiber

Kelly Treiber, a Morganton native, discovered yoga since 2002. “It came to be as a gift when I was 51, three months before my son, Collin, died.” Upon the closing of her family business of 40 years, Muses Bookstore, Kelly began inviting small groups to attend classes in the empty building, holding a space for local people to practice yoga and for other teachers to offer their gifts.

She is working at Breathe Yoga & Wellness to provide Community Yoga classes by donation. She has used yoga as a grounding force throughout her experiences in traveling, as well as daily life.

Lizzie Warfield

After a dedicated year of two-yoga-classes-a-day, Lizzie decided to pursue her studies as a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher.  Two years later, she completed her Apprenticeship with her yoga studio alma mater, before moving to Australia for 7 months and sharing her passion on the other side of the world.

Lizzie believes in the magic of mindfulness, and the life changing effect it has on every yoga practitioner, no matter their age, gender, race, body type, or any other physical factors; she is very excited to continue growing as a student and teacher in the Breathe Yoga & Wellness community!

A brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Darrell found yoga while exploring tools to help his game. In his teaching, he would like to share with others the light that yoga has shined on him.

Shelli Welch

Shelli would say that she was born to be a yogini and share the power of yoga to transform as decades ago she was led intuitively to yoga from within before ever having been exposed to yoga through a class or book. She teaches from the foundation that you are your own teacher and guide and that she is merely present to share these powerful yogic tools that will lead you home to you.

Hatha practice dominated her life for 23 years before being led to Kundalini.
